Count stock from a phone, without installing anything
Below is a live count on a demo store. It works exactly as it would in your own shop: someone in the Shopify admin creates a count and shares one link, and whoever is holding a phone opens it and starts scanning.
Open the count on your phone
Scan the code on the right, or type the address into your phone's browser. Nothing installs, and it never asks anybody to log in to Shopify.
Scan a barcode, or type it
Point the phone at a code on this screen — the camera reads it off the glass, and a Bluetooth scanner works the same way. No camera to hand? Type the SKU or the barcode number into the same field instead; it finds the item either way.
Watch it land
Each scan adds to the count immediately, on every phone looking at it. In a real stocktake this is several people at once, in different aisles.
Scan these
Eight items from the demo store’s catalogue. Scan one twice and you will see the count go to two — a stocktake counts units, not scans, so scanning the same box again is how you record the second one. Every code here can also be typed: put the SKU or the number under it into the field on the counting screen.

The part above is what the people counting see. This is what you see — inside your own admin, where the count is created and the result is written to your stock.
Start a count
Pick the location. Narrow it to one vendor or product type when you are only counting a corner of the shop, or take the lot. A cycle count leaves untouched items alone; a full count treats anything nobody counted as zero.
Watch it fill in
What the shelf holds against what Shopify holds, the difference on every line, and who counted it. Filter to just the discrepancies, or search a SKU. Nothing has been written to your stock yet.
Stock that moved is held back
If an item sold or was returned while the count was running, its quantity changed after it was counted — so it is not overwritten. Those lines are listed separately and you decide: re-apply them, or count them again.
Apply, and undo if you need to
One action writes the counted quantities to that location. What it changed stays on the page as a record, and a single button puts it all back.
